Gov. Minner Issues Statement on Announcement that Fox Chase Cancer Center is Considering Expansion in Delaware
Dover – Governor Ruth Ann Minner issued the following statement today in response to an announcement that Fox Chase Cancer Center is considering an expansion in Delaware:
“We are very pleased that Fox Chase, a world-class cancer center, is pursuing the possibility of expanding in Delaware. Fighting cancer has been a priority of my Administration, and this expansion would offer us a new opportunity to enhance cancer research among our existing health and university resources. We look forward to working with Fox Chase as they explore expansion options in the First State.”
Judy Cherry, director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, said:
“Fox Chase’s consideration of Delaware has the potential to position our state as a national and international leader in cancer research. The opportunities for collaboration with Delaware’s existing health care providers, institutions of higher education and business community are unlimited, and we look forward to encouraging this collaboration. Implementation of Fox Chase’s capital plan could have a $2.3 billion impact on Delaware’s economy, adding several thousand jobs and contributing $500 million annually to Delaware’s economy.”
