Isogen Celebrates Official Opening

Company’s new facility brings high-tech jobs to Delaware

NEWARK – Gov. Jack Markell, Delaware Economic Development Office Director Alan Levin, Isogen CEO Les Edwards, and Isogen COO Austin McDonald on Monday celebrated the official opening of Isogen’s new Science Center.  The Newark -based center deploys the latest technology for the sterile processing and laboratory testing of injectable pharmaceuticals.

Isogen, through its Science Center in Delaware, provides isolator-based advanced sterile manufacturing for potent and non-potent therapeutics for the critical clinical/commercial scale manufacturing transition.  The Company provides a fully integrated suite of services including formulation, technology transfer, and validation for the contract filling of liquids and lyophilized formulation for vaccines, mAbs, and other synthetic and biologically derived therapeutics.
Isogen chose Delaware as the site for its new Science Center thanks to the State’s unique business advantages, such as: a pro-business environment, responsiveness and a sense of urgency for the customer, an abundance of collegial and respectful private/public partnerships, and easy access to all levels of Delaware government.

Isogen’s decision to locate its new facility in Delaware provides the State with approximately 40 new high-tech jobs.

“Isogen is bringing quality jobs to Delaware, which is great news for our economy,” said Governor Jack Markell. “The only way we are going to address the historic challenges facing Delaware is by getting our economy moving again, and my administration is working hard every day to create an economic climate that allows companies to thrive across a range of industries.”

Isogen’s vision is to be recognized as the industry partner of choice for the outsourcing of sterile filling from clinical through early-stage commercial manufacturing.

"This is a proud day for Isogen,” shared Les Edwards, Isogen's CEO.  “As we unveil our new Science Center, we are smartly deploying the latest in sterile processing and containment technology.  Our processes, facility, and equipment have been built upon the lessons learned by our experienced staff through hundreds of projects and decades of hard work at major pharmaceutical companies worldwide."

Said Austin McDonald, Isogen's COO: "When we set out to build Isogen, we set out to offer a flexible facility and business model, which would make us an ideal partner for small-scale clinical and commercial drug processing.  By opening the doors to our Science Center, we are partnering with our customers to bring life-saving compounds to market more efficiently and with an improved technical foundation."

As Isogen sought to weave themselves into the fabric of Delaware's business community, they partnered with Wilmington Trust Company.  “We congratulate Les Edwards and Austin McDonald on the grand opening of the new Isogen Science Center and are proud to be part of this exciting opportunity for Delaware,” said Katie Wilkinson, vice president and division manager of Delaware Commercial Banking at Wilmington Trust.  Wilmington Trust provided funding for the project, along with the Small Business Administration, the Wilmington Economic Development Office, and the Delaware Economic Development Office. “This is a great example of how public- and private-sector lenders can work together to create jobs and bring innovative industry leaders to Delaware,” added Wilkinson.
