Governor Markell and Secretary Alan Levin Attend Groundbreaking Ceremony for Family Respiratory & Medical Supply Corporation

Camden – Today, Governor Jack Markell along with Delaware Economic Development secretary Alan Levin, joined local and state officials in celebration of the groundbreaking for Family Respiratory and Medical Supply Corporation’s newest facility. The center, to be built in Camden along southbound Route 13, will be the company’s third location in Delaware.

“I want to congratulate Family Respiratory and Medical Supply Corporation on their continued expansion in Delaware,” said Governor Markell.  “The only way for Delaware’s economy to prosper is for businesses such as this to step out and utilize the opportunities our State has to offer.  My administration continues to work hard to get the economy growing through our CORE Prosperity Agenda.  We are determined to make Delaware the best place in the nation to not only start, but grow a business.”

Family Respiratory and Medical Supply has been in business since 1990 and has served the Delmarva Peninsula since 1999. They currently operate offices in Milford and Smyrna. The Camden facility is expected to open in November 2009.

“It has been many years since the concept for this project began. Many talented individuals have contributed to make this dream soon become a reality,” said Family Respiratory & Medical Supply’s President and CEO, Kenneth Suter.

Suter went on to mention those involved in the process thus far, to include Ballard Builders, Scott Engineering, Jackson Architects, and Wachovia Bank. He also recognized the hard work of Delaware’s state and county employees, whom he said so often go unrecognized. “We have many guests here today representing the hard working government agencies of Kent County and the State of Delaware. Many of them go unnoticed in their dedication to serving the citizens of Delaware – they should be proud.”

Suter continued, “The citizens of Kent County and the State of Delaware opened their arms to us and have allowed our organization to become a part of their community. We have since donated time and charitable funds. My wife has personally volunteered to work with the American Heart Association on events, and our staff has volunteered to participate in the Annual Heart Walk. We will continue to be a leader in the community – using our actions, not just words.”

Long-time patient, Mike Sullivan had nothing but positive remarks as he told of the specific needs continually being met by the Family Respiratory employees, naming multiple individuals and stating how each one has helped him along the way.
