The state believes it has the legal authority to launch a sports lottery to generate critical revenue to fund services such as state police and public education. "Delaware will not be intimidated by these efforts to stop us from moving forward. The sports lottery bill I signed means more jobs for our state and more funds for our schools and other services," Markell said. "We are not looking for the leagues to host their All-Star games or annual awards ceremonies in Delaware like they do in Las Vegas. We are looking for them to respect our right to balance our budget and keep our core commitments to our citizens." |
