Governor, First Lady Invite Delawareans to Holiday Open House at Woodburn on Dec. 5

DOVER – Governor Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell invite Delawareans to help celebrate the holiday season by attending an open house at Woodburn: The Governor’s House.

The holiday celebration begins Saturday with the traditional Holiday Open House from noon to 2 p.m. The open house will include tours of historic Woodburn and Hall House, as well as refreshments and seasonal music.

The Governor’s House will be open every Saturday in December from noon to 2 p.m. for tours.  Woodburn is filled with an array of stories and legends as well as museum quality paintings and woodwork, many on loan from the Brandywine River Museum, Delaware Art Museum and the Biggs Museum in Dover.

Built in 1798 by Charles Hillyard III, the Dutch door overlooks beautiful gardens containing Delaware State tree, the American Holly, a Giant Sequoia  and Magnolias.

“Carla and I look forward to welcoming our fellow Delawareans to Woodburn this holiday season,” Gov. Markell said.

Woodburn is located in Downtown historic Dover at 151 Kings Highway.
