Note: This page is part of the Governor's News Archive, which holds press releases from January 2009 through September 2011. Since October 2011, recent news can be found in the Newsroom and archived news is available at news.delaware.gov. February 8, 2010 Governor Markell has lifted the State of Emergency for Kent and Sussex counties as of 8 p.m. Monday, and state government will be open in all three counties on Tuesday.Drivers are warned that some roads remain snow covered, have icy patches and/or are not passable. Some suburban and rural roads, especially in Sussex County, have not yet been plowed and are dangerous to drive on. The lifting of this order is not a substitute for good judgment by individuals and businesses, and travel in areas with poor road conditions should be kept to a minimum.
Even with the end of the State of Emergency, plowing by DelDOT, transport and emergency missions by the National Guard, shelters by the America Red Cross, and power restoration by utility companies will continue. |
