Gerald Brady, which requires individual and group health insurance contracts to provide coverage for hearing aids of up to $1,000.00 per ear, every three years, for covered dependents 24 years of age or less. The Hometown Heroes Banner program is a joint effort between the Delaware Gold Star Families and the Vietnam Veterans Association – Chapter 83 to raise awareness about Delaware’s fallen military heroes. April 10, 2008 – Governor Minner held a ceremonial bill signing in her Legislative Hall office for Senate Bill 201, which creates gold star family license plates for close relatives of military service members killed in action and creates special license plates for veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Vietnam War, among others. February 7, 2008 – Gov. Minner addressed the audience at the 2008 Delaware Cancer Consortium Retreat in Dover and thanked the Consortium members for their work in the fight against cancer. The Delaware Cancer Consortium is responsible for the creation of  such initiatives as the Delaware Cancer Treatment program and the Screening for Life program, which has helped Delaware’s cancer incidence rate decrease four times as much as the national average and cancer death rate decline twice as much as the national rate.
